Quick Start Guide

Step 1 Download Portal

Download the latest version of Reality Portal from the official GitHub releases page.

Latest Version: v0.13.0 (November 2025)

Choose your installer:

Portal_macos_aarch64.dmg - For Apple Silicon Macs (M1, M2, M3, M4)
Portal_macos_x64.dmg - For Intel-based Macs
Portal_win_x64_en-US.msi - For Windows (64-bit)

💡 Not sure which Mac version? Click the Apple menu → About This Mac. If it says "Apple M1/M2/M3/M4", use aarch64. If it shows an Intel processor, use x64.

Step 2 Install the Application

Mac:

1. Open the downloaded .dmg file
2. Drag Reality Portal to Applications folder
3. Open from Applications (may need to allow in Security settings)

Windows:

1. Run the downloaded .exe installer
2. Follow installation wizard
3. Launch Reality Portal from Start Menu

Step 3 Configure Port Forwarding

Critical Step!

Your node must be accessible from the internet. You need to open ports 9000, 9001, and 9002 on your router.

Required Ports:

Port 9000 (TCP)

Public HTTP API - Node information and blockchain data

Port 9001 (TCP)

P2P Communication - Node-to-node networking

Port 9002 (TCP)

CLI Port - Administrative commands (localhost only)

How to Configure:

1. Find your router's IP address (usually 192.168.1.1 or 192.168.0.1)
2. Access router admin panel in web browser
3. Look for "Port Forwarding" or "Virtual Server" settings
4. Create rules for ports 9000, 9001, 9002 pointing to your computer's local IP
5. Save settings and restart router if needed

Tip: Use The Realest Globe (https://globe.wirwp.net) to verify your node is visible to the network after setup.

Step 4 Start Mining

Click the "Start Mining" button in Portal. Your node will begin:

• Validating rApp operations
• Processing compute tasks
• Verifying consensus operations
• Earning rewards automatically

Important: Disable Sleep Mode!

Your node will NOT run when your computer goes to sleep. To earn rewards continuously, you must disable sleep mode in your system settings. Otherwise, your node will stop participating in consensus and stop earning.

You're All Set!

Your node is now contributing to the Reality Network. Monitor your earnings and performance in the Portal dashboard.

Troubleshooting

Portal shows "Ready" but not earning?

Most likely your ports aren't forwarded correctly. Check router settings and verify with The Realest Globe.

High CPU/memory usage?

Adjust resource allocation in Portal settings. Lower percentages if your computer feels sluggish.

Connection issues?

Check firewall settings on your computer. Portal needs network access. Also verify port forwarding is correct.

Node not visible to peers?

Port forwarding is the most common issue. Use The Realest Globe to check connectivity score.

Node stops running or not earning?

Check if your computer went to sleep. Nodes cannot run when the system is in sleep mode. Disable sleep mode in your system power settings (Windows: Settings → System → Power & Sleep; macOS: System Preferences → Energy Saver).
